Being in love in India has a bizarreness to it. We hide, suppress, struggle, delegitimize, and even use violence to destroy it. Love, the most universal of all emotions is one of the most controversial in India. From stories of women in burkha to the trans men and women in the cities, 'Love In India' tries to define modern day love of real people mixed with their struggles, pain, and victories. These 60 individual documented stories were intercut with viewer stories to showcase universality of the emotion. The prevailing gender discourse often overlooks trans love stories. In Haryana, a state with one of the most imbalanced sex ratios in the country, the project expanded the dialogue on gender rights by creating a platform for an in-depth exploration of trans love stories.
